Piuma is a pure merino wool single ply yarn with a soft and slightly fuzzy texture, a compact structure that makes it surprisingly easy to work with. The light twist preserves all the natural softness and lightness of merino fiber, while during working the yarn tends to bloom, gaining volume and body. Suitable for knitting, crochet, hand weaving, needlepunch and tufting, Piuma is one of the most versatile yarns around. The result, whatever technique you choose? Piuma is entirely made in Prato, one of the world's most prestigious textile districts, starting from our extra fine merino wool tops — a 100% wool combed sliver with a micron count of approximately 19 microns, ensuring exceptional softness against the skin. The raw material comes from selected farms in South America, particularly from Argentina, Uruguay, and Chile: regions with a long tradition in sheep farming and high quality standards in textile fiber production.
From raw fiber to finished yarn, the entire process takes place in Italy: a short and controlled supply chain that combines the quality of South American raw materials with Tuscan artisan expertise.
